The denomination of Huchuy Qosqo is (Little Cusco), this trek is the combination of amazing Andean communities, wild life, original Inca trail, wonderful Inca constructions with store houses, amazing engineering in channels and water sources, huge snow peaks, the extraordinary sacred valley with Inca communities’ settlement, exotic vegetation and incredible Andean ecological variety, actually this trek is a dream comes true for nature lovers.

Overview

DAY 1: CUSCO – HUCHUY QOSQO – LAMAY (SACRED VALLEY) –CUSCO

We start our adventure picking you up from your hotel at 6:00 am in our private van and we drive ahead for around 1 hour until Cupper Alto, there is a small Inca settlement called Taucca which is the starting point of our hike.

  • Estimated Walking Hours: 7 – 8 hours
  • Lowest elevation: 2800 m. / 9.186 Ft.
  • Highest elevation: 4100 m. / 13.451 Ft.
  • Our lunch spot: at Huchuy Qosqo view point
  • Meals: snack, box lunch, water.

Itinerary

ONE DAY BEFORE THE TREK:

Briefing/ smoothllamaperu Cusco office.

It will be in our office which is located at Street Lizandro Montero Ñ – 4

All travelers are required to visit the Cuzco office for a mandatory briefing on your trek one day prior to departure at 6:00 pm. At this meeting you will receive detailed information on the route, a list of what to bring, confirm your pick-up for the morning of the trek and be able to ask questions. However, if you wish to receive all the information in your hotel, let us know and our guide will kindly approach your hotel for the informative meeting.

DAY 1: CUSCO – HUCHUY QOSQO – LAMAY (SACRED VALLEY) –CUSCO

We start our adventure picking you up from your hotel at 6:00 am where ever it’s located, in our private van and we drive ahead for around 1 hour, passing small towns such as: Poroy, Cachimayu, Chinchero, Piuray Lake and finally we will reach at Cupper Alto, there is a small Inca settlement called Taucca, which is the starting point of our hike. First we follow the ancient Inca trail, surrounded by small Andean valleys, land cultivated with Andean products such as: potato, quinoa, wheat, broad beans, and other Andean tubers, we continue walking for around 2 hours  towards the summit at Piuray passage (4100m / 13.451ft.), from here you can enjoy the stunning view of the landscape all around, as we continue with our expedition we will see small mountain lagoons, from the summit is all the way downhill approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes to Huchuy Qosqo, on the way down we will pass an Inca bridge, small canyon decorated with many species of bromelias, cactus, native trees, native flowers, Andean grass and much more, afterwards we reach at Huchuy Qosqolocated at (3650m / 11.974ft.), perched above sacred valley of the Incas, here is the best part of the trek.

Huchuy Qosqo was originally an administrative and military center around Sacred Valley; you may also observe the amazing Inca buildings with fine perfect stonework, storehouses, water fountains, sacred plazas, defensive quarters, all surrounded by farming terraces, Collcas to store and preserve food, because it was an important agricultural center to produce corn, the spectacular view of cordillera Vilcanota with many snow peaks such as: Apu Chicon (5500m / 18.044ft.), Apu Sahuasiray (5720m / 18.776ft.), Apu Veronica (5750m / 18.864ft.), Apu Terijuay (5380m / 17.650ft.), and the famous sacred valley with cultivated lands, to provide water to the site is a marvelous Inca-built irrigation channel lined with stones for about 800m. The site is inaccessible by public road.

After your guided tour of this complex Inca site, we will begin our 2 hours walk downhill until the village of Lamay (2800m / 9.186ft.), by the Urubamba River in the Sacred Valley of the Incas, where our vehicle will be waiting to take you back to your hotel in Cusco.

HOW TO BOOK HUCHUY QOSQO TREK?

FIRST, to book your “Huchuy Qosqo trek”, we need you to fill out our booking form by clicking on BOOK NOW on our homepage or click here the link BOOK NOW.

To book your “Huchuy Qosqo trek”, we need the following information (FROM EACH PARTICIPANT in your group).  We cannot purchase an Inca Trail permit without the following information:

SECOND, we require a deposit of US$50.00 per person in order to purchase a permit for the “Short Inca trail trek to Machu Picchu”.  You can make you deposit by clicking on the VISA or PAYPAL symbols on the top of our home page, or you can click on the VISA or PAYPAL symbols on our booking page or click here on the payment of your choice, either VISA or PAYPAL.

WHAT ABOUT THE PAYMENT BALANCE?

It would be greatly appreciated if you pay in cash at our office (US dollars or Peruvian soles) here in Cusco. We have many cash machines in the historical center to withdraw money.  You can also pay by VISA or PAYPAL online but you will have to pay a 6% service charge, charged by VISA and PAYPAL.
